The Adirondack Animal Coalition offers an Educational Program that teaches Responsible Pet Ownership and Pet Care. Currently the program is available for children in grades 1, 4 and 5. This is an interactive program that allows children to learn while having fun. Our mascots, Rocky and/or Dax will also come to the school and take part in the fun and education.
For grade 1, an instructor, along with Rocky or Dax, will sit and talk with the children and allow them to share stories about their own pets while lightly touching on basic pet care. For grades 4 and 5, we provide more detailed instruction about caring for your pet and the responsibilities of being a pet owner. Everyone receives a gift for participating and we can also bring one of our own rescue dogs to the classroom, upon request.
This program can also “hit the road” and be given almost anywhere for church groups, 4H groups or scouting groups. This is a tailored program that is continually growing. In the near future we hope to have options for grades 2 and 3.
